The worst part about Mike being out of town is that KanJam has been temporarily put on hold. That is, until our friend Matt Barrios comes into town tomorrow to lay down some drums. Yep, you heard right...ANOTHER Matt. He plays in an incredible band called -kids-, who also just recently recorded here at TVR.
Tonight, we're recording more guitars and drinking more iced coffee.
Here's the short version. Mike took some time off. Went to California. Snowboarding. Broken arm.
A true American hero!
He's gonna be out of commission for a while, so send him a tweet and tell him you love him! Luckily, we got him on bass for half the record before he left town, and the rest will be waiting for him when he's all fixed up. Maybe we can think of some one handed instruments for him to play until then? Glockenspiel? Shaker? ...?
In other news, we had Chris Harry, a great drummer and longtime friend of TVR, come in a few days ago to play on a song Matt Wilbur thought he would be a good fit for. Chris didn't dissapoint. He showed up, he drummed, and then we ate Chipotle. Extra guac.
We'll be a third of the way through January tomorrow, but it feels like only yesterday I was wrapping presents and lighting fireworks. The last six days have been exhausting but rewarding, as it seems we got most of our goofing off out of the way last week. According to the progress chart, we're nearing the halfway point, which puts us right on schedule. Here's a little bit of what we've been up to:
You can still listen to punk and have melodica on your album, right? I hope so...
